In my artistic practice, I work under the name Marei Rei and as part of the artist duo Polyphrenic Creatures (with Ulrike Bernard). Both areas of my practice are concerned with generating spaces for experience and action that invite us to collectively touch and disrupt existing structures. The term “social fabric”, which uses the properties of textile to describe societal structures, characterises both aspects of my practice – loose threads unite in more or less densely woven structures whose collective elasticity and malleability are continuously tested. In my educational work, textiles, sound, language and space are merged into diverse collective and experimental formats. I consider learning (and unlearning) in an embodied sense, placing the focus on enabling emancipatory and reflexive processes.
